Hi Basis Expert,
We have configured SMTP in one of our ECC 6.0 Dev System.
Now we are facing an issue. The issue is in SO23 we have maintained the Names(SAP User ID) in the Distribution List.
The SAP User IDs are maintained with an email address still when emails are triggerred to this distribution list it fails to reach the recipient, even though the email can be seen in transaction SOST with status sent.
A message is sent to the initiator:
Delivery to these recipients or groups is complete, but no delivery notification was sent by the destination server:
If we remove the email address from su01 and maintain the email address in the distribution list, it works fine.

Anil Shenoy

Hello
These links are irrelevant to the issue described above.
The problem here is NOT with the SCOT configuration.
SAP is able to send mails properly.
The problem is that mails are not sent when a distribution list is used.
The distribution list is maintained using the Tx SO23.
When you created the distribution list and maintained the users in it what did you select for the "Recipient Type" ? Try to maintain different recipient types and see if that works.
Maybe different recipient types for different users and then see whether the mails are getting delivered to someone. Worth a try.
Also I suggest you to check the relay settings at the SMTP server.
As SAP shows that mails have been sent then the problem could most likely be at the SMTP server end.
Suggest you to check with the mail server specialist and check the logs there.
Cheers
RB
Hello Anil,
Enable trace in scot for the node smtp by going to menu utilities - activate trace setting. select option activated for outbox, inbox and global. then try to send the email again from sost. once it fails select the request and click trace option in sost and check the error message and attach it here.
Thanks,
Ranjith

Hi Anil,
Please confirm whether you are able to send and receive emails withing your domain...
If not, please check with your relay or exchange server administrator and request them to ensure that relay server will be able to receive emails requests from SAP server.... Relay server administrator will be able to do it.
If yes and you want to receive emails sent to other domain like gmail.com , hotmail.com ....etc, in that case, your relay administrator should modify the firewall/relay settings to broadcast the emails to other domains too.
Thanks and Regards,
Vimal
