Hi.
My name is Takayuki Fujiwara from Japan.
Here is a question regarding SAP XI 3.0.
I would like somebody to answer the following question.
Can we use the Idoc adaptor in a synchronous scenario?
Generally, RFC is suitable for a synchronous scenario.
However, thinking about the convenience of Idoc (error handling, defined structure , and so on), I want to consider using the Idoc adaptor instead.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Best regards,
Takayuki
Hi Takayuki,
a workaround could be to build a wrapper-RFC for IDOC processing.
Means: Instead of passing the IDOC to the R/3 using the IDOC Adapter, you could develop/search for a fitting RFC. The RFC has parameters that are similar to the IDoc structuren. The receiving RFC would pass the IDOC to the dedicated processing function module.
The trick is to find the fitting RFC.
But this would work.

Hi Takayuki,
IDoc communication is only asynchronous. But you can use acknowledgements (asynchronous confirm messages) instead of an answer, if your required task does not need response values.
