Follow-up materials (discontinuation) in production orders: consume more than planned

Dear,

We have following situation:

  • In the material master of material A, we have defined a follow-up material B (discontinuation indicator 1).
  • In a production order, material A is a component with a requirement of 329,150 M. As the stock quantity of material A amounts 493,520 M, all requirements are allocated to material A and none to material B.
  • Material A is backflushed.

The production order is confirmed in several partial confirmations. Due to scrap, more has been consumed than expected. However, after backflushing the 329,150 M of material A mentioned in the production order, SAP switches to the follow-up material B. So 86,750 M of material B is also consumed, although there is still enough stock of material A.

Did anyone encounter this problem? Can anyone provide me with a solution for this?

Kind regards,

Joren

Hi Joren,

As you said material A consumed by 329,150 M as per the production order requirement, And 86,750 M of material B also consumed due to scrap, It means somone selected manually the material B to consume as extra material required.

Thanks

Hi Vivek,

All consumptions have been done automatically via backflush. So manual component selection was not possible in this case.
