hi folks..

can anyone help me with data archiving...m using ECC6.0 and oracle as database.

i want to archive some transactional data into external storage drive/disk...how to do that and how to access the data after archiving it? and here some questions

1. Where are the newly created archive files stored.

2. If some one has to look into archived data what is the mechanism.?

3. Can the user access archived data from SAP or does the user have to go to external system?

4. How can we provide visibility to archived data?

5. Where has to be the external system ? Can it be just a shared drive? And what file format are the archived files in ??

kindly help me..

Please start with the docu in help.sap.com Introduction to Data Archiving (CA-ARC)

or take a training (course BIT660 - 3 days)

Archiving is not only a technical execution, it is a process and you need to understand the impact on legal requirements as well

There is as well a SAP Press book available for data archiving
