AS ABAP - General

Hi

Re: SAP NW7 EPH1 AS ABAP MaxDb Windows Server 2008 Installation.

Sapinst stopped at first step (Creating OS Users). It didn't like my Master password. Can I restart using same SID, system number, etc because nothing has been installed yet?

Is this correct?

Also,

I wasn't asked for this file NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1 Dev. WP for SWPM 1 of 6 (previous threads indicated as a requirement).

Thanks

A.

Hi Abu,

Yes, you may restart your installation. Clean the installation directory and initiate installation again from scratch.

Thanks Vimal and Deepak

The Master password is used the default for all password requests in SAPinst,

ie OS User, Max Db Users, etc?

Yes Abu.

You are correct...

The user running Sapinst has a different password policy on the  host/domain than the Master password policy, ie we have to use special characters like ! for example.

Does this password conflict with SAPinst and the installation?

Yes... Thats the reason, I said you to disable the password policy settings before you start the sapinst.

Please see the below steps to disable it.

We arent allowed to disable password policy.

However Ill create OS Users <SID>adm, SAPService<SID> before running SAPinst using our password policy.

What do you think?

Yes

That option also you can do  it...

Got the same message again. I created OS Users. That all worked fine. My pwd is alphanumeric and the correct length.

Any ideas?

Yes Abu.

Even though you create the uses it will again in OS level .

So to fix this issue, i would suggest you to disable the password policy till the sapinst crosses that phase and continue.

You don't need to contact system administrator for that.. you can direclty do it.

i tried

gpedit.msc

Even though Im local administrator I cant disable 'password complexity'

Also

Is the problem with the OS Users or the Master pwd

Hi,

Better you contact system admin and try to disable for sometime and enable it later.

I am not sure whether any other alternative can be done

Hi Abu,

As well as please check whether SAPINST is prompting that the user provided is not compatible as per the OS standard,

In that case, please check with your system administrator to disable the password complexity or you can perform the following steps.

Here's how:

  1. Click start and type gpedit.msc to open the Policy Editor
  2. Open Computer Configuration (left hand pane)
  3. Open Windows Settings (left hand pane)
  4. Open Security Settings (left hand pane)
  5. Open Account Policies (left hand pane)
  6. Open Password Policy (left hand pane)
  7. Doubleclick on the Password must meet complexity requirements
  8. Select Disabled
  9. Press OK
  10. Close the Policy Editor
  11. Run gpupdate.exe

Please share the error screen you are getting.

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal,

Good spot. I think this maybe the problem, because SApinst creates user that has password that conflicts with host password policy. Let me check with Admin.
