CCMS: Auto reaction method

Hello!

We would like to activate auto reaction method (E-mail) centrally from SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 (e.g. in case of failed DB backup, full tablespace, etc.)

Question:

Do we need to install on each satellite system a SAPCCM4X agent?

Hi,

if you are monitoring all the managed system from the solution manager system, you can proceed with the system monitoring and all the other setup like Auto reaction, emails using RFC destination.

in this case you need to create 2 (Analyse and colllect) dedicated RFC either manually or from the RZ21 of CEN for the system monitoring. In this case the free dialog workprocess involved to collect and send the data,

if you use ccms agents the system automatically creates the RFC in the format of SAPCCM4X.<xxx>.<xxx> and send the data through this RFC, and ccms agent itself will take care of the collection and analyse, no dialog work process involved.

If you use both RFC (analyse and collect) and CCMS agent the advantage is like failover. means until unless ccms agents are working, its used for data collection, no work process required. if any case they are down RFC monitoring collect the data using work process.

After done ccms monitoring you can configure auto reaction alerts.

We use basically for the monitoring of satellite systems RFC-connections. 

When we try to set up auto reaction method for e.g. MaxDB-SAP systems

Data Area --> Used Space we automatically log in into satellite system itself.

It means that the auto reaction method of satellite system can only be chosen, not the auto reaction method of Solution manager...

It depends on the satellite systems, their versions and the version of the CEN. See the attached link for details.
