hi guys,i just finished my sap training i am hearing a lot about sap solution manager or solman,i have googled it but cant find a better answer all the information there is confusing can any one tell me in simple and detail form what solman is and why is it used for?

Hi Srikanth,

SOLMAN is free software provided by SAP.

1. current version of solman is solman 7.1

2. In solman you configure the manage system such as ECC , SCM , Portal system. With the help of solman you can upgrade your system.

3. Maintenance optimizer is a tool in solman where you can calculate the stack.

4. Service desk configuration you can do.

5. You can generate Early Watch alert which can help you in analyzing the system status.

6. You can generate alerts for manage system by the help of ccmsagent

7. you can find out the usage type and generate graphical reports such as CPU usage , servlet error , pcd error of java system by the help of wily.

SAP Solution manager now a days is a very hot component

for time being you can go through the smsy , lmdb , and solman_setup procedure.
