Sending PO by fax - English characters not printed correctly

Hello Experts,

I have a very interesting problem.

PO is sent by fax (via a fax server) from SAP to a fax machine at the supplier end.  The PO is in Japanese language.  The PO is desiged using smartforms.

The Japanese characters are ok, but the English characters are not ok.

WBS is printed as VBS

SCGJ is printed as SCCJ  - The spacing between G and J are very less and it gets over lapped and the print appears as CJ

Could this be because of character spacing?

Font used is - JPMINCHO.

FYI - Printing the same PO form to the printer is ok.  Sending the PO as PDF by email is also ok.

Any clue, what needs to be done

Hi

Perhaps it's the font used. Please, check SAP Note 776507 - SAPscript/SmartForms: Which fonts for which languages?. Read "Which fonts are suitable for a given language?".

I hope this helps you

Eduardo

Hi

Then try to change it for the forms in English language according the recommendation in the note.

Hi,

Check if SAP note 1645945 helps with this?

Hi Aidan,

The note says something about PDF.  Does this help for OTF format sent via fax?

The print preview is ok and direct print is also ok except for fax.  Any clues?

Hi,

if the target format in rtansaction SCOT is PDF for the FAX node, then there will also be PDF conversion. The problem may also be related to the fonts used in the fax solution.

regards,
Aidan

Hello,

The system is now upgraded to EHP6 and contains all the relevant packages in it including all the OSS notes related to PDF.  But still the issue persists.

Is there any other settings to be considered?

Thanks in advance,

Balaji
