I have done a lot of searching on this topic and I haven't been able to find an answer that relates to my issue.
I am trying to send an iDoc (ORDRSP.ORDERS05) from R/3 to PI, do a message mapping, and send a file to a networked drive. I have tested the mapping and everything works as expected. My issue is when I try to put it all together (and send the iDoc from R/3). I get the following error.
Unable to convert sender XI party http://sap.com/xi/XI / XIParty / UPS to an IDoc partner
Can somebody provide clarification as to what is missing?
Thanks!
Hi Adam,
May be this is a B2B scenario and you trying to use Proxy (wild guess). Can you try to provide Sender Party & Communication details in your Receiver Agreement and then check?
Please find the attached screenshot.
You can check: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0b355ae-0501-0010-3b83-8f2bb566f...

Hi Adam,
Please confirm you are getting this error in PI not in R/3 and this is coming when the flow is R/3 --> PI not the reverse (Acknowledgement back to R/3).

I am VERY new to PI (and feel like a fish out of water) so I am not sure how to check this. Could I be getting this issue because I do not have permissions to save to the networked directory? My assumption was that there is an issue in my setup in PI such that it is doing the mapping but it doesn't know where to put the output file.
Another thing that confused me is I do not see a response payload in SXI_MONITOR.

NO.

Does not seem a Setup issue of PI, you have to mention all the details of the network path in your Receiver File Adapter to write the file. Check the below blog to find a basic idea about File communication in PI:

There should not be any Response because it is a Asynchronous scenario not Synchronous. IDoc does not support Sync communication.
I am going to adjust a few things and then I'll post some more information. From my recent research it sounds like I DO need a party because the server where the output file will be stored is not inside the SAP landscape. This last error message that I posted was after I removed the part, per a blog post I read.
