Input History not working after installing the SAP GUI 7.2

Former Member

Hi,

After installing the SAP GUI 7.2 for windows 7, the input history is not working. Whatever I'm typing is not getting saved in the history directory. Every time I have to copy paste it.

I have already checked the following

- history settings under options is 'ON'

- the connection is of 'High Speed Connection'

Please help.

Regards,

Vaibhav

With patchlevel 2 and higher of 7.30 GUI (which you should be starting to use now), has

ACE as the database engine instead of the older MSJet.

I would recommend that you start using this version as soon as possible,as EOL for 7.20 is

April of this year.

Hi Abdul,

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like the link you have mentioned is for the older version of SAP GUI.

Hi Vaibhav,

we have the same problem for some time also. After making the entry in the registry and installed a new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, everything runs without problems. See also the following link:

Hello ScriptMan,

I'm not able to find the registry value "UseDot" under the path

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAPGUI front\SAP Frontend Server\LocalData

Other thing which I noticed is that there is no *.mdb file in the history path

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SAP\SAP GUI\History.

Please help.

Have you permissions to create/modify files in that folder?

Hi Vaibhav,

In the text of the link following is written:

. . .

If the registry value "UseDot" (of type DWORD) is set to 1 under the path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAPGUI front\SAP Frontend Server\LocalData

the comma symbol in SQL statement will be replaced with the dot. This prevents the SQL execution error. This registry setting has to be done manually. Please create this value if it doesn't exist.

. . .

Can you please help in creating the value in the registry.

Unfortunately, only in the German language as an example but hopefully understandable.

The installation of a new value in the registry may e.g. be initiated with the right mouse button.
