Copying information stored in component assigned to activity to PR

Hi All,

In our business scenario, we assign material component on activity ( item category L) , run MRP and create PR. Here client want to store some 24 character information at each item level ( item assigned to the activites) and every item can contain same or different information and this information  should get copied in PR at item level.

Very first i thought of using customer field at componenet level and getting copied the same in PR using some exits. Am in thinking correct? or the requirement can be mapped differently.

Please suugest.

I think you are on right path. Rather than creating new field, you can use item text for capturing the text and then copy it to Purchase Req.
