Hi,
We are about to upgrade from SRM 2.0 to SRM 5.0 and our OS: HP-UX 11.11 9000/800, Oracle 8.4.7
We are planning for Oracle upgrade first. Our SAP system with Oracle 8.1.7.4 and I think we need to go for two upgrades Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g.
Hardware Requirements Check: I went to Oracle 9i and 10g Installation Guide and found few patches are missing at Operating System level.
ex: PHNE_31097:ONC/NFS general release /performance patch
PHSS_20790: ld(1) and linker tools cumulative patch
and few patches related to PL/SQL native compilation
Are these patches must be there before Oracle upgrade? I don't have much idea how important are these.
Also does we need to configure Kernel Parameters at Hardware level for Oracle upgrade ? Beacuse Oracle Installation document had Kernel Configuration information. Please tell me how important these checks for Oracle Upgrade.
Regards
Srinivas
Yes, you must install OS patches first, then upgrade Oracle.
Follow the Oracle upgrade guides to know which patches are needed.
This is highly important. do not miss them.
AND.. YES... kernel parameters are as important as OS patches. do the changes.
