dear prasad,

User Exits come into picture, when customer wants to add his own functionality without touching the standard .

Exits types are:

Screen Exit : Adding a custom screen , ex: adding customer defined field in SO Additional Tab B

Menu Exit : Appending custom menu link to SAP Standard

Function Exit : Like checks , ex : Only creator of SO should change it, others are not allowed.

Field Exit : Displaying Standard fields with different names

The Process which can't be covered in SAP Standard configuration, will be addressed using these User Exits.

SAP has given the option of accommodating customer specific coding in certain areas.

Hi Vara,

Your question is not really clear. In general, user exits exist to allow additional functionality to be added at certain moments in the business process. These user exits can be implemented at saving of notifications or work orders, or at setting the work order Technically Completed, etc.

"On what functions do user exits uses to consultants." Are you asking for a list of available user exits in PM?

Hi Vara,

Sorry, that doesn't really help as you just repeated the unclear question, in the same wording.

I think that the list Maheswaran referred you to is a very good reference. Otherwise your question should be a bit more specific as to what you want to know.
