Oracle advanced compression - BI 7.0

All, we are testing table compression on oracle 11gr2 on BI 7.0. with these steps:

1-compress tables/indexes in same tablespace.

2-export PSAPBWP with brsapce

3- drop tablespace

4-create smaller tablespace and import.

After compressing tables/indexes above 1MB, tablespace PSAPBWP shows 50% free space.

Now to reclaim space we want to use brspace export/import. Export shows 23.6k tables.

After dropping these tables, dba_segments still show thousands of table/index partitions(/BIO or /BIC)and temp objects in PSAPBWP .

will step 3 and 4 loose these objects ??

thanks

No,

you need to execute Cube-Compression on BW Level inside SAP for this.

This will drop the partitions with outdated requests,

after data is compressed from the F-fact to the E-fact tables.
