SAP-LOGON 7.30 - own Favorites are deleted after changing saplogontree.xml

Hello.

We use in SAP logon 7.30 in section "connection" sub-trees with several entries.

(like this:

The user creates there own favorites folder and/or own several entires.

Now we have to add a new connection into SAP logon. To do so we made the new entry in the saplogon.ini.

After delivering the nes saplogon.ini to the user and restarting the SAP logon the new entrie is shown under the root tree "connections".

If we want to show the new entire in the sub-tree e.g. "BW Systeme", then we have to modify saplogontree.xml.

If the saplogontree.xml was modified by the admin then the user speified favorites are lost.

The user can only use Saplogon Pad.

It is not possible or wanted that the user uses the saplogon.exe

How ist it possible the save the users favorites before changing the saplogontree.xml?

Is it possible to store the favorites in a seprated file and link it to the saplogontree.xml?

Is there any other way that the user don't lose there favorites after updating the saplogontree.xml by the admin?

Best regards.

Hello,

In saplogontree.xml, the each entry of favourites of the user are stored in between <Favorites name...........</Favorites> as

<Item name="<System Descriptioon>" type="link" uuid="0be19e0b-ab96-4381-a0b8-e6ce03c9512f" linkto="2bd4446e-3aaf-4b3f-952a-b2f45d343479"/>..

So as a backup you can keep the existing saplogontree.xml by renaming it and you copy the favorite related entries to the new xml file. With this, the users can continue to have access to their System favorites.

Check and provide feedback.

Thanks for the information.

This workaround, however, requires the manual intervention of the admin or the user himself to modify the saplogontree.xml after updating.

With over 1000 users can not be made. Also, the user can not be expected to adapt the XML manually.

Is it possible to store the favorites in a file - just like the Shortcuts (in sapshortcut.ini) or the connections themselves (saplogon.ini).

Then after replacing the saplogontree.xml should not be manually adjusted to the user favorites again have available.

Hello,

As the favourites are part of saplogontree.xml. I dont think there is any way you can replace the file and restore the favourites without any manual intervention.

Unless you can explore creating a batch script which can take backup of the text between
<Favorites name...........</Favorites> and replace it once you have replaced the saplogontree.xml.

Hope it helps. You may close the thread if your query is clarified.
