location split of demand

Hi gurus,

can anyone please throw some light on how this scenario can be handled.our APO user base is just about 5 to 6 people. And these 5 to 6 people plan forecast in APO and only one of them releases it into ECC.

the scenario is we have different products like A1, A2, A3 ....A10 etc. but all these are of the product family A. similarly B1, B2, B3....B10 under family B. we use planning materials on each of these A1's and B1's and the forecast is planned on the planning materials in APO. now the question is there are three plants that can produce family A and family B products. So we want to split products between locations. i think location split is used for this. But can someone plz xplain what settings need to be made in APO such that the product split of product family A happens between all three plants in the required proportions. and once the transfer from APO to ECC is done, how will it look like in MD63. would really appreciate if can be xplained with an example numbers.

Hi Anusha,

In the absence of explicit product and location characteristics, product and location splits help you to define static quotas/ratios/proportions so as to release the demand planning data to ECC or SNP.

Product Family A consists of products A1, A2, A3, and A4. It will be produced at locations Loc1 and Loc2.

Assume the planned quantity of product family A is 800 for period 1 and you defined the following proportions -

Product split: A1 - 0.25, A2 - 0.25, A3 - 30, A4 - 20 (t.code /sapapo/mc7b)

Locations split: Loc1 - 0.75 and Loc2 0.25  (t.code /sapapo/mc7a)

Then, quantities of individual products are 200, 200, 240, and 160 for period 1. The following matrix gives the DP release based on specific location and product combinations. The transfer profile (t.code /sapapo/mc8u) to facilitate DP release to ECC, does not define the explicit location and product characteristics values.
