Central SLD migration in Solution Manager

Former Member

Hi,

We have three system landscape for our solution manager 7.1(i.e, DEV,QA,PRD). Our Central SLD is configured in Dev SolMan system. All our satellite systems are pointing to the SLD in Dev SolMan system.

Our concern now is, if something happens to our Dev system (solman), all our configurations based on Central SLD available in DEV SolMan system will be in stake.

We would like to know whether we have any option for high availability  of Central SLD in Solution Manager. (if the central SLD fails, a backup SLD takes over as in the case of backup domain controller in TMS config)

Also we would like to know, what are all the activities involved in migrating the satellite systems from one central SLD to the other.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi,

The following document explains how to backup SLD data which ensures

consistency in case of system failure:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/a2/706851b7e62a4b9e697bce3ede967a/frameset.htm

The following note should also be helpful:

1540435 - SLD Export/Import FAQ

(See the planning guide at bottom of this note)

As of version 7.1 the SLD content Sync should be avaliable. to local SLD.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/12579

Please check the SLD post installation guide and the SLD user guide
avaliable at

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-sld

In them you will find the steps to check the installation as well the
steps to correctly configure the SLD.

Can you read the SLD Planning Guide PDF maybe it may help
you in this regard - it is available from

Hi Ravi,

Steps which I can think of

--> Make sure that in both Dev and Prod SLD the CR content and CIM content versions are same

--> Create a SLD BRidge from Dev to Prod

--> Run the SLD data supplier job in all backend ABAP systems from RZ70 and Java SLD data supplier in Visual admin

--> You can see all systems in the Dev SLD and Prod SLD now with all the details. You can see the last changed date and time..

--> To change the central SLD , again the same thing, You need to update the RZ70 in ABAP and SLD data supplier in Java for all managed systems.

--> As you are telling .. you are in solman 7.1 i think you need to rerun steps related to SLD in solman_setup

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Jagadish.

Hi Ravi,

check the SLD planning guide under link http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-14151.

It outlines different startegies for SLD setup according to your landscape, such as the usage of local and central SLDs, sync. options etc.
