Hi gurus,
I want to replace an old PA-risc server (rp5470) with a new Itanium server (rx6600) even in HPUX operative system where is installed a central instance of NW04 Ecc 5.0.
It is possibile to procede with a simple Homogeneus System Copy, changing the kernel version (ia64 instead of parisc) and oracle executables?
There is a plain compatibility between parisc binaries (oracle datafile) and the itanium binaries?
Thanks in advance,
Marco
reading note 1003028 it looks very much like you can now do a heterogenious system copy using the homogenious system copy procedure backup/restore as long you stay on Oracle.
This procedure is also very interesting concerning 9.2 to 10.2 upgrades during system copy.
regards
Peter

thanks William,
also a switch in the same HPUX 11.23 (from parisc to Itanium) needs a regular migration project, like a migration from Win to HpUx?

This is possible, but you probably will have some difficults.
Technically is possible. I did this migration from PA-RISC 11.00 to IA 11.11 and Ora 9.2 to Ora 10.2 copying the datafiles directly between machines. And the kernel I upgrade from 4.6 to 6.20.
Remember that you need make a backup before.
Hope that answers your question.
I believe you have to get 'SAP' invloved when changing platforms??????
We may(?) be going from HP RISC to HP Itanium in the near future(?), and our company has to get a SAP Migration Specialist or the HP vendor has to have a certified migration specialist on staff, to certify the migration. -- Or you void your warranty and support?????
