BO 4.0 Update

Hello,

I´m looking for update documention of SAP BO 4.0 from SP4 to SP5.

I´ve founded this note 1757132 - BI4 Support Pack Upgrade and Patch Install Best Practice Guide, Here It´s summarized the steps but I don´t know where I could to stop the differents servers extep the CMS, FRS and Tomcat.

Make sure to Turn OFF ALL servers Except essential servers: CMS, FRS (input/output),Tomcat (or other App server)

  1. Using a task manager, kill all processes* other than those essential servers listed above.
    1. Using Windows Task Manager: Show all processes from all users, right click on the process you wish to terminate, select End Process Tree
    2. Optionally you may wish to use another task manager such as process explorer to kill the processes
  2. If you use the DB2 bundled CMS DB, do NOT kill that process*
  3. Kill all JAVA .EXE processes (using task manager: right click, end process tree on each java process; or use process explorer)

Are there any how to or Steps guide explaining the whole process?

Thanks a lot.

Also make sure that all the prerequisites are fullfield because some of SP require diferrent pre installation steps.

By the way as usual take a full backup of your Repository server ( CMS Database ) and your config files ( WAS, FRS , etc ).

PD: BI 4.0 SP5 has some regreations so check with your customer if all the functions are supported after upgrade.

Cheers

Hello Sargan,

For update from SP4 to SP5.Is it necessary to install first the last patch of SP4 (Patch 4.9) and after that install the SP5?

If I have the SP3 and I want to SP5, the process is it the same? SP3+last pacth > Install SP4,+ last patch >Install SP5 ??

Thanks a lot.

Hi Ruben,

just read the documentation :

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001256232012E/xi4sp5_bip_update_en.pdf

Note 1764022 - SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 SP05 Patch Update Guide

1)

The update install allows you to move directly to Support Package (SP) 5 from 4.0, or any lower 4.0

SP version.

2)

So you must apply first 4.0 and then 5 patch 4.

Cheers
