Tracking the message ID with the outbound idoc number

Former Member

Hello Friends,

I wanna trace the message id of an outbound idoc number..

Consider the scenario.

Sender : 3rd party - > XI -> ECC system

XI generates an IDOC and posts to the ECC system . As we all know, XI saves a dummy idoc number and generates a different idoc number for the target.

Imagine the receiver comes back askin some infos and gives me the idoc number that he received.

How can i trace the Message ID with the idoc number he gave. .

NOTE : He gives JUST the outbound IDOC number !!

Do help me people !!

thanks and regards

Shankar

Hi,

in SAP ECC in IDOC in field - ARCKEY - you will have the XI message ID

Hi Michal ,

Thanks for the quick response..

Btw, That works from the Target side. In case i have JUST the outbound idoc number, how can i trace the msg ID .. I need to trace the message ID purely from XI side.. without any info from the target side other than the OUTBOUND idoc number.

Hi,

1. ask the partner to give you the value from arckey and not the IDOC number - it's just a different field

2. in IDX5 you can also click on the message and select - Tracking from the menu

but would be best to get the arckey from your partner to speed it up,

One more way is by using TREX or PAYLOAD search option.

You can search using IDOC number directly and thus you will get the message ID.

Hi Michal,

This is an Outbound IDOC so the IDOC number will appear in the control records "DOCNUM". Which can be found while doing payload search in PI.

Hi Anand,

>>>>This is an Outbound IDOC so the IDOC number will appear in the control records

original post -> Sender : 3rd party - > XI -> ECC system

are you sure it's outbound ? it's inbound ... at least for me

Vasu,

I am not raising any question. Try answering the original question.

Gagangdeep,

You can search in idx5 only with the dummy idoc number PI generates for the target and not the actual outbound idoc number... Findin the dummy idoc number is the challenge !!!

One way to get PI message ID is to login to ECC System and go to WE02 transaction and enter the idoc number user has given . Select  the  Control rec and select the details tab. PI message ID will be in identification column of the details tab.

hi Vasu,

>>>>One way to get PI message ID is to login to ECC System and go to WE02 transaction and enter the idoc number user has given

please have a look at original question - he's asking how to get it in PI as he probably does not have access to ECC ...
