CTS is the base of ChaRM or ChaRM itself?

Dear experts

I have 10 different SAP Solutions (ABAP and Java stack), each solution with their own DEV, QA, PROD environment. Nowdays they have its own Transport Domain Controller in each DEV instance (8 Domain controllers and 2 systems in Java stack without transport system).

Recently I have been strongly adviced to install CTS+ or at least CTS for ABAP ones, but first I need to understand technically, what does it means:

1) First I know that in my Solution Manager 7.1 System I have a TMS Web Application that I can enable at SICF.

2) Also I know that If I stablish my Solution Manager as the unique Transport Domain Controller, I can control all the transport executions from Solman´s STMS.

But what is not very clear is the following:

If I erase the TMS from each ABAP, and configure the Solution Manager TMS as the domain controller for all the landscape (with their respective routes for each solution), and activate in Solman´s SICF the TMS Web Application it means that I am using the CTS?

More than that, if my assumption is correct. Using the CTS system means that I am using the ChaRM?

I will appreciatte a lot your help because all the documentation is kind of confusing, and every time that I try to understand the cetralized CTS architecture, I finish reading things related to the  CTS+ and ChaRM.

Hi

I will try to explain the concept

for e.g. ECC has a landscape DEV QA and PRD

for this you need to create a transport path and have a domain controller in Dev etc

in Solman production you need to link the stms of solman with ecc domain controller then solman will become master domain controller

thus ChaRM which is workflow based change management uses this as a base for moving all the transport request which means CTS for ABAP objects and  CTS+ for non abap objects but solman is the master domain controller

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp05/helpdata/en/45/51fbdbd4941803e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

advantage no one can do any transport directly unless solman approves it...or can't create a transport request if not approved by solman but this is not mandatory just for you information

business benefit clear visibility and better picture of all the changes across landscape
