Travel management integration to ESS and MSS

Exprerts - We are integrating TM to ESS and MSS in EHP4 landscape we are using ABAP Webdynpro.Questions

1. Do we need to assign roles to users in ESS and MSS portal and just assign roles into backend system lets say Travelers, admin, managers, travel assistant ect.

2. what roles it could be or I can add just ESS tcode into current roles for above users.

3. any suggestions

Hi,

you need to assign roles SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP (back end)

and roles Everyone, Every User Core Role, Employee Self-Service on ESS user roles.

Please have a look to the SAP help on roles for Travel Management also but basically if manager needs to approve the trip then they also need the role SAP_FI_TV_WEB_APPROVER but with EHP4 + and Web Dynpro Abap you also need to assign employees via the employee list (they are not automatically there!) but this can be done in the backend also by the tcode  FPB_MAINTAIN_PERS_S which is explained in KBA 1622954.

Just one more point of note though is that if you activated the business function HCM_ESS_WDA_1, then in addition this delivered some changes to the portal navigation and the role "SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_1" should be assigned too.
