SAP MDM Import Manager cuts number of characters at import

Hi,

We are experiencing a problem in our MDM system, MDM 7.1 SP07.

We have a field in MDM, Long Description, which is Text Large.

When importing text from Excel spread sheet to this field, long texts are being cut automatically.

- For spread sheets in XSLX-format, Import Manager cuts the text after 255 characters.

- For spread sheets in XSL-format, Import Manager cuts the text after 766 characters.

The issue with xlsx-format would probably be that SP07 does not support Office 2010 formats.

But why is Import Manager cutting the text from the xls-format?

Any good ideas?

Hi,

I have been notified that this problem is no longer an issue.

The issue was with the system that delivers the import file.

Hi Thomas,

I would request you to redo the test you have run after you take a blank excel,have all the cells converted to text and paste your data there.

Hi Thomas,

• I tried importing data to Text Large field for SP07.
• It was imported successfully with .xlsx format itself. it was containing close to 1000 characters.
• So can you please check if there is no conversion filter set in the import map?
• Also check if value conversion for Text Large filed is happening correctly or not.
• Also check if you have selected Value conversion filter "Accept Truncated Values"?
• If yes, kindly try to uncheck it and try again to import data.
• It will be great if you can give screenshot of the import map settings for this field particularly.
• Kindly let us know regarding these things.

Hi Thomas,

I understand values are being Truncated here while importing them through Import Manager.

Did u gave a try using text file? What was the outcome !!
