I have some requirements and My System Landscape is
1. ECC---->PI--->FTP
2. POSDM<---PI<----FTP
3. ECC<----PI<---FTP
4. BI<----PI<----FTP.
I need to configure the SLD part, i don't have much knowledge to do the configurations in SLD. Can anyone help me how to create the Product, software component, technical system and business system.?
Here how many technical and business systems i need to configure. and how many software components do i need to configure.? The modules involved in our landscape are SD, MM & FI.
Please can anyone help me to do the configurations in SLD.

Hi ,
First Create Products for SAPECC ,SAPBI,Third party server which holds FTP.
Now you need to create swc/swcvs for SD, MM & FI by choosing the above created product SAPECC.
//y Create swcv for BI as well by choosing above created product for BI.
For example you want to connect to systems ECC 400 client ,BI 400 client.
Crate 1 technical system for ECC and 1 technical system for BI.
For ECC and BI choose connection type as ABAP then just simply go ahead and give the details that it asks ;it is pretty straight fwd.
Now create 3 Business systems for SD, MM & FI by choosing the above created technical system for ECC .
//y Create 1 Business system for BI as well by choosing above created technical system for BI.
NOTE:Business system is client dependent.
Once sld part is done.Import BS in to ID and SWC/SWCV into ESR.

if there is only one system external FTP.
Just
create product, sw component, SW component version, technical system business system
the real configuration of ip, is in the communication channel
the configuration of SLD is for organization, and enterprise gobernance, in this case

Hi,
As suggested by Anup you should create Technical System/Business system for ECC and BI. In addition to it if you want to use the FTP location as any third party Business Component you can create addition in the SLD.
In the SLD, you have to create objects in below given sequence
1. Product
2. Software COmponent
3. Software component version
4. Technical System
5. Business System
Every Business system to be created has to made for each Technical System.

I am giving suggestion just refer it.
Technical system :
1 .As ABAP for ECC .
2. As ABAP for BI
Bussiness system :
1. Of client of technical system of ECC
2. Of client of technical system of BI
software component ::
Its depends on you pattern and requirements . I suggest you to create different S/W components for different scenario.if they are no functionally dependent to each other .
Product :
same as S/W components
Take the help of BASIS guy if you are not much familiar this terms..
