SPM issue trying to search on a large hierarchy

Hi experts,

Search functionality is not working on Dimensions containing a large hierarchy on SPM Queries.

Searching over the same hierarchy in a bex query works properly but it does not work on the SPM queries.

We are using version 2.1 SP8.

Please suggest.

Hi Roberto,

We are currently on SPM 3.0, but for nearly couple of years we were on 2.1 . Yes Searching is a large hierarchy doesn't return any results.

We had this issue with our Supplier hierarchy node which has more than 150K nodes. Now we have been working with SAP Max Attention team for last few months on this , and SAP says any hierarchy object that has more than 100K nodes , search won't work nor the hierarchy is display.

Now few of the alternates what we have done is to reduce the hierarchy to only inculude active suppliers in the system other alternate was flatening the hierarchy and with this we are able to achive some kind of workaround for now.

But bottomline ... the design in which SPM operates for now atleast this feature doesn't work. But in SPM 3.0 things are much better. Search works way better than 2.1.

So my best advice would be to try looking for alternate design, like redesigning the hierarchy or upgrade to SPM 3.0
