Hello,
i have some questions: anyone could explain me, in simple mode, the procedure of backup and restore with oracle?
Last week infact, we tried to copy with ad external tool sapdata dir to another system (in order to have a stream bit copy). But i would like to understand better the procedure, even if in a schematic way.
Dear Sleep,
the topic of Backup & Recovery is a quite broad one, so a "simple" explanation might not cover the right aspects in the right way.
Anyhow there is introductional information available:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/44/dcf58a106b345de10000000a155369/frameset.htm">SAP Database Guide: Oracle - Backup Overview</a>
You may as well want to read

And a last link:

I know, this is not the quick explanation you asked for, but to understand a backup scenario like yours (including external backup tools), I recommend to have a thorough understanding about the whole procedure first.
