Hi,

Yes it is possible.

Login as administrator and you can install it in the same way you will be installing the SAP systems.

Make sure that the SID differs so that in the installation product will be like D:/oracle/SID1/11201 and D:/SID2/11202/

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal

Hi  Vimal,

Thanks for your reply,

We are installing linux machine.  Here oracle base file system should be one.

/oracle

/oracle/stage

/oracle/client

Thanks

Okay not a problem.

Here you have to consider three important things.

1. make sure that you create one folder inside /oracle with your SID that you are going o use for NW7.3 like /oracle/NW7/11202 so that even accidentally there wont be any overwritings.

2. create a softlink to /oracle/stage that is pointing to a different location. Stage contains the extracted oracle software. you can create like /oracle/stage pointing to /oracle/NW7/stage

3.Don't uncar the client during the installation. In one phase, you will be prompted for the files to be uncarred. like /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run , /oracle/client/....etc. just uncheck the box... I have attached  sample screenshot for your reference. Make sure /oracle/client/10x_64 is UNCHECKED.

Rest is fine.

You can go ahead with oracle installation. You can have more than one version of a DB in the same box which exists in many clients and also possible.

Yes. It is possible.

We are installing linux machine.  Here oracle base file system should be one.

That is incorrect.

If you are installing an SAP system on an Oracle database then the ORACLE_BASE should be different. The recommended setting is this:

ORACLE_BASE=/oracle/<DBSID>

Read this SAP note

Note 1521371 - Oracle 11.2.0: Setting of ORACLE_BASE in SAP environments

Hi, Sivakumar.

No, it is not possible, you have to upgrade existing installation to 11.2 first, then you can deploy there 11.2 databases. You can have different path level of databases, but can't have multiple releases of GI on the same machine.

No Evgeny .. it is possible.

I am 100% sure of it..

Sivakumar is going to install a fresh  Solution Manager system. Hence it is completely possible. As I said earlier, SID changes ....so no problem

Oracle 11.2.01  will be installed in a different folder and oracle  11.2.0.2 will be installed in a different folder like

/oracle/DEV/11201 is a different folder.

/oracle/QUA/11202 in a different folder.

So it is possible.

You can run as many different Oracle installations on one machine as you like.. All of them will be installed with their own ORACLE_HOME directory..

Yes, you are right, I meant in RAC and ASM context you have to have clusterware on certain versions. In that case you have to have GI on 11.2.  If SimaKumar is doing typical RDBMS without RAC, he can install them together in separate Oracle homes.
