Need to have some purchased material show up earlier than others

I want to get a feel for how I should handle this issue.

All of our purchased parts are set up to arrive at the factory based on our production assembly date (when we expect the machine to arrive in Assembly).  Some of our parts are needed to arrive at the factory upstream during the welding of our "make" parts.  What is the best way to drive an earlier delivery date so that those specific parts arrive when they're needed upstream.

Thanks in advance! (first time posting a question)

Hey Frank,

When you attach a material master as a component to a production order the required date for that component can be determined from either the start date of the whole order or the start date of the operation the component is assigned to.  Either way, an off-set can be applied to either date.  Meaning you can specify that a component is required 2 weeks prior to operation or order start.  It is specified on the component detail screen.  That date is fed to MRP and you'll get the supply (PR or planned order) dated accordingly.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Ken. Good answer.

What is the field to indicate you want something to arrive 2 weeks prior?

On the component detail screen (double click on the Item number) there is a section titled Dates, to the right are 2 fields: "Lead-tm offset" and "Op.LdTimeOffset".  Click in either one and press F1 for more detail on the field.  You would enter a negative number to indicate you want it earlier.
