offline backup

Hi ,

i have schdule the ffline backup at night 11:30PM to 03:00AM ,while running the offline backup sap and DB is down ,if offline line backup is failed at 01:00AM what happen is it sap and DB is up at 01:00 or up at 03:00AM ?

can you please explan anybody..

your database will be brought online after end of backup, even if it fails.

only exception: if brbackup stops abnormally, it will not restart your DB.

Dear Sheeba,

when you write "if offline backup is failed" I assume you mean, brbackup aborts with a non 0 returncode.

In this case brbackup will try to bring up the db again immediately.

So, let's say the backup fails because some device error on the target device occurs at 01:00 AM, than the db should be online again just a short time after 01:00 AM.

Usually you don't supply end times to the backup scheduling and the BR*Tools are not even aware of the scheduling at all.
