Hi,
New installation of SLD.
Now we need to define technical systems & logical systems in the system landscape.
i have seen few links on how to define web as abap & web as java, standalone, 3rd party systems.
My doubt here is when i want to connect R/3 i will be defining or adding R/3 client and version host detials.
so i assume WEB AS ABAP can be used to refer or connect R/3 systems,
In similar in which cases i need to define web as java system and standalone?
Could you please explain me in defining various techincal systems. On what basis i should define?
Expecting some good replies guys
Thanks,
--Sai
hi
For creating r/3 technical system:

System Landscape Directory
http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-3654
the User needs to be assigned following roles to config SLD :
SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR
SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR

Hi ,
In simple terms.
>>For connecting to SAP servers having ABAP stack we go for AS ABAP. Ex:ECC,CRM,APO etc
>>For connecting to SAP servers having only java stack we go for AS JAVA Ex:Portal
>>For connecting to standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective we go for Standalone Java.
>>For connecting to third-party technical systems contain third-party software components and products we go for Third-party.
AS ABAP or AS JAVA technical systems are normally registered in the SLD server automatically. If automatic registration is not possible, you have to create the new AS ABAP or AS JAVA technical systems manually.
>Standalone Java and Third-party technical systems creation is optional.
