After some Windows updates I tried to start SAP AS Java which could be started before. Now it shows jcontrol.exe as "stopped".

I get the following dev_jcontrol content:

Any idea what could be done to get a successful startup?

I fixed my problem - it was a trivial solution but some log files pointet me to it: the password of the DB user sap<SID>db has expired and needed to be changed.

Hi Siggi,

Please follow the below sapnote , it contains information how to resolve the issue.

Hi Ashutosh,

thanks for the hint. Will check the SAP note and report the results.

Hi,

The bootstrap process initiated by jcontrol through jlaunch should write an instance.properties file. Jcontrol uses this instance.properties file to start the individual nodes using jlaunch. Pls check if the timestamp of the instance.properties file is after you started the java instance. The bootstrap process should also intialize the JVM. Pls check if there are any jvm_bootstrap files that were written to the 'work' directory after the java engine was started. See if you can gather any information from these log files.

Hi

Please confirm whether listener is running or not.

Secondly what is your OS and DB ??

From when you are facing this issue?? is this a new installation or did you perform any kernel upgrades??

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal

Hi Vimal,

if you tell me the name of the listener process or service I can check.

OS: Windows 2008 Server SP2

DB: DB2 V9.7

Not a new installation, it worked already after install.

Kernel changes  I don't know since I'm not the admin of this server.

Cannot tell the history from when on the symptom occurred.
