720 kernel upgradation in dialog instances

Dear all,

As per the note 1636252, we have updated kernel from 700 to 720 in two of our test systems and everything working fine without any issues.

Now we are planning to do the same in our landscape. Our production system has 3 application servers(dialog instances) which are not in cluster environment.

My query is what are all steps needs to be done on applications servers freshly after completing the kernel up gradation in production server.

(Info: our application servers share common directories like profile, global & trans).

Please help in this procedure.

Rgds,

Durga.

Well if you work on a homogeneous environment, SAPCPE should distrubute the  7.20 kernel to your app servers as usual, you do have to install the sap host agent manually in each box though

Juan,

Thanks for the update.

so except SAPHOSTAGENT installation in each dialog instances from root directory, no additional steps required like IGSHELPER installation or any other step etc in SAP note 1636252?. SAPCPE will take care & distribute all local executables  to app servers? Please confirm.

You will have to install all the "optionals" where manual intervention is required individually. SAPCPE will simply distribute the contents of the kernel.

Basically, SAPCPE distributes the contents of the new kernel  to all servers which has the same /sapmnt/<sid>/exe directory. In the case of IGS if the files are optional but if they are fully deployed on the CI then they should be distributed and no manual interviention should be required.

As I mentioned before you will need to install the SAP HOST AGENT on each box individually.

Hi,

Please follow the Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11. Ensure SAP NOTE 1610716  is applied to prevent DDIC TYPE INCONSISTENT ABAP Dump occuring.

The note will explain what are the activities to be done after upgradation of kernels from 700 to 720.

Please check and provide your feedback.

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal
