Hi,
I hope you are getting this error while you receive incoming invoice from the customer in terms of debit memo and credit memo
this is also called as ERS from Purchasing perspective
these settings you have to make specific to customer ( sold-to party)
please make the settings in the following path
SPRO-->Sales and distribution-->Scheduling agreement with delivery schedule-->Control EDI inbound processing-->Define special features for credit and debit memo
