PS authorization for a user field

Dear Experts,

    Out of 10 users authorized for Project Builder, we want to authorize only 2 of them for changing data in the field PRPS-USR02 ( IN USER FIELDS tab ).

Can we map this in SAP 6.0 from basis side or development is needed ?

Are 10 users using same sap ID or using more then one ID

For more then one ID you may achieve this via basis team, within one ID not possible i think.

Create one "Z" authorization object and add that one in OPS1.

Get technical assistance for creating and activating "Z" authorization object.

B4 posting this thread, i'd consult my basis person, but did not got any solution.

@ Abdul,

I created an auth.object,added to the user maintenance (role) and also maintained it via ops1.

But still i get the auth.error.

The basis person is not able to recognize  ( '  ' ) for the user fields.

Can u guide on this ?

Hi Supriya,

SU53 doesn't always pin point you at the problem. There may be only one issue, which could fix all the issues that SU53 is showing.

Instead of giving "*", for other authorization objects, you may try giving all relevant values & check.

Even after that, if this issue persists, then I advise you to post this query in Basis/ securities forum. They are the right guys to guide you through.

Create 1 Z role copy it from already exisiting role(the one 10 user is using for Project builder).

Remove 8 users whom you dont want to have rights for changing data field from existing roles.

Now in newly created Z role  identify object which is related with PRPS-USR02 and change activity field(01,02,03) keep only display rights. And than add 8 users to this newly created Z role.

Hi,

If Basis guy unable to identify the objects, let ask him to start tracing of transactions performed by user or test role. That will let you know which objects are being used while doing transactions.

Tracing (Tac-ST05) is the best way to find out objects.

( '  ' )  means there is no value exists, give "*" it will work.

You can control it using authorization objects. Discuss with your basis team.
