SAP GUI 7.30 Deployment fails because of shortcuts

Hello everyone,

i recently started deploying SAP GUI 7.30. On some notebooks we get this error:

Action-Type State Error Source Destination Error-Code

Shortcut Install WinAPI::shGetSpecialFolderPath() failed.

   0x80070002

Component Install Component $SAP Logon Desktop Icons and Start Menu Entries is in error. It has not been successfully installed.

I think the installer cannot resolve the public desktop and startmenu. The client systems are Windows 7 64bit.

I would like to apply a hotfix to the notebooks. If not the installer runs again and again. And the subsequent packages are not deployed (patch and custom shortcuts).

Anyone knows how to fix that ? Or which registry key is read in this case ?

Thanks but i just found it out myself.

Under HKLM- Soft-Microsoft- Windows- Current Version- Explorer- Shell Folders

The common desktop points to a directory which does not exist. Creating the folder or entering the right value fixes the problem.
