Dear experts,
Transportation[STMS] between the different version of OS and DB servers is possible or not ?
DEV OS: Windows2003 R2, RDBMS: MS SQL Server 2005 SP3
QAS/PRD OS: Windows2008 R2, RDBMS: MS SQL Server 2008 R2
Please give your views.
Thanks
Thirumalai
Hi Thiru,
It is possible as long as you have same SAP release and patch level between DEV, QA and PRD system.

Hello
With the above set up, Yes it is possible.
What SAP says:
However, within the same release, there are certain risks when you perform transports between systems that have different Support Package levels. This applies in particular when you perform a transport from a system with a higher Support Package level to a system with a lower Support Package level. We recommend that you perform the transport from the lower to the higher level.
It is also possible to transport between different releases with certain limitations.
Please read this note:
Note 1090842 - Composite note: Transports across several releases

Hi Thirumalai,
The transport package created in SAP is an Open SQL statement, which can be transported into different OS and DB. A database interface translate SAP's Open SQL statement into SQL command specific to the database in use.
So it doesn't matter if the version of OS and the DB are different.
