Frontend printing when in other network and SAP server visible under NAT-ed address

Hello

I have no experience with frontend printing when in other network(e.g 10.200.96.xy) and SAP server (originaly on 192.168.20.5) is visible under NAT-ed address on 10.200.96.5.

Most important how this printing occures in such an environment?. Is there any difference when using SAPLPD or sapsprint?

Hi Jan,

Frontend printing using SAPLPD works the same way whether we are into same network or NATed network.

SAPSprint is a transfer program for print output using a Microsoft Windows operating system. SAPSprint replaces SAPlpd as an implementation of a print server and is required only for remote printing with Microsoft Windows. In this case, the host spool system (Microsoft Windows spooler) and the spool system (application server with a spool work process) are on different hosts. That is why the SAP spool system requires an external process that transfers the output requests from the SAP spool server to the Microsoft Windows spooler. This process is provided by the SAPSprint service.

For detailed difference between SAPLPD and SAPSprint Refer link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60cae99b-d7c9-2b10-1c85-ceff5ae05...

Hope this helps.

Hi Jan,

I've not used sapsprint particularly, but saplpd works pretty well for local printing.  SAPSprint is used to sent the printouts to remote print spoolers and has improved error control compared to saplpd which picks it up on the pc and controls the spooling.  It's the new method of printing, so ought to investigated.
