parallel ledgers setting

Dear all gurus,

could you tell me in details regarding parallel ledger requirement in sap . why ,when and where exactly it require's. If it is purely indian group of company, still then it requires. answer to this question will be very much appreciate, because it is very very urgent in the project.

No need to maintain parallal ledger if you ur company and company codes are in the same country.
