you can create EWA for ABAP as well as non-ABAP systems.
The content of the EWA for ABAP systems depends on the installed software components, e.g. if you have BI_CONT Add-On aktive in your ERP system the EWA contains also sections with BI specific data. EWAs for ABAP are based on RFC destinations between the ABAP system and your solution manager; for EarlyWatch Alerts for Java systems you will need the solman diagnostics environment.

So, as MDM is based on SAP NetWeaver there should be no problem setting up the EWA for this solution.
