Hi All,

I want to configure failover clustering of Production Server on Development Server.

As We have ECC 6.0 EHP5 Installed in Windows Server 2008R2 and Oracle 10.2.0.5.0 as our DB.

Can anyone share me some helpful documents or links regarding this.

Please Suggest.

Many Thanks

Dear Ajit,

1.Do you want to do failover cluster in production environment: right?

2. Already your production environment is established and running. right?

Now you wanted to migrated Production environment to Microsoft Failover Cluster Environment 2012R2.

for example if your using IBM server..IBM administrator build your Windows Cluster Environment 2012R2. then you have to start migrated old Production to New Cluster Production server.

Thanks & Regards,

failover cluster in production environment: right? - yes

production environment is established and running. right? - yes

I must choose right backup strategy because I need backup system. I backup "only?" production enviroment. Windows clustering is high availability and backup IN ONE (because one cluster is down, second runing)

i am glad if get me advice

Dear,

First you can take Production server Backup and restore in test system & check whether your backup is perfect or not.

Then go for Cluster Migration...You can follow system copy or backup restore method.

Follow High Availability Section in System Copy Guide.

Before you can contact server team and check cluster configuration tests.

Dear Smoula,

You can get some other server from your customer and restore the backup & then check its perfect backup or not.  -  optional-- not required

Or Directly go for system copy method..

Thanks & Regards,

Hey Ajit

in every SAP installation guide, the last chapter is dedicated to installation and configuration of SAP with Windows Failover Cluster.

Installation guide you can download from http://service.sap.com/instguides -> choose products (

for example: SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP ERP -> SAP ERP 6.0 -> Installation -> Installation Guides - SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 -> Oracle -> Windows -> ABAP)

Last chapter is called "High Availability with Microsoft Cluster Service"

if you need general techical information you gen get from these two white papers:

SAP Applications on Windows Server 2008 R2 High Availability Reference Guide:

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20c20172-2fa2-2d10-bfb9-c4e5fef8a...

SAP NetWeaver High Availability and Business Continuity in Virtual Environments with VMware and Hyper-V on Microsoft Windows:

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-32869

I hope this helps

best

yes, but clustering is 1 system + 1 backup (if it too using how high availability)

how tools (brtools or DB13) or level (on operating sytem level, on application server level, on DB oracle level, or..?) you recomendet to backup? (I have oracle 10.2.xxx)
