Problems with Kernel Upgrade - sapcpe.exe showing RED!!

Former Member

Hi,

I have a fresh installation of SCM 7.0 system with MS-SQL database and Windows OS.

The SAP version is 7.01 and Kernel SP32. I need to upgrade the Kernel to SP137.

I downloaded the Kernel .SAR files and  used SAPCAR to unCAR them.

I copied the extracted files to the Kernel folder and started the services and system back using MMC.

When I brought the system back up , it shows sapcpe.EXE in RED (Executable Copy).

The system patch level has not changed from 32 to 137 in the R3 screen.

The version of the SAPCAR i downloaded for the 64-bit OS is not working (even though it is from the SAP Download Basket)

Please clarify if I need to download the Kernel files using SAP Download Basket again or if there is some mistake in the execution.

Thanks.

K.Phanindra.

Hello

Did you put the new kernel in the DIR_CT_RUN directory ?

Also check the errors in the sapcpe.log file in the work directory.

Cheers

run the following commands after bringing down the system.....

<disk>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\sapcpe.exe pf=<Start Profile>

<disk>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\sapcpe.exe pf=<Instance Profile>

As far as I remember that is related to the runtime DLL's

Hi,

It seems that SAPCPE is not able to copy the exes.

You can do it manually. Follow the steps.

1. Take a backup of /usr/sap/<SID>/DV*/exe folder .

2.Take a backup of /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe folder.

Copy the extracted files to the above two directories and try to start the system

Please check and let us know if you are still facing the issue.

Thanks and Regards,
