Dear Forum,
Can abap/heap_area_total be set higher than the max specified in RZ11 (2.147.483.647)?
Best regards,
Teddy
Up to SAP release 4.5B, abap/heap_area_total was limited to a 32-bit signed integer (representing 2 GB - 1). This limitation has been removed in SAP release 4.6 (see SAP Note 180872).
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.

Hi Christian,
this is unfortunately only partly true ...
Note 548845 - Internal modes uses more than 2 GB
=> as of 6.40 and in most 6.20 systems everything should be OK - but in 4.6C there this will not properly work because of SYSTEM_IMODE_TOO_LARGE ...
"... You cannot avoid this error by changing memory profile parameters such as ztta/roll_extension and abap/heap_area_nodia."
In 4.6C it can be done up to 4GB - but just without full SAP support ...
