Dear All,
We're implementing an SAP BI solution which includes SAP Netweaver BW and SAP BIP. I need some answers to the following queries about the landscape for the solution:
1. Is it mandatory to use a DEV/QA server with SAP Netweaver BW or we can directly use PRD server to install the BI Content and populate the Data Warehouse?
2. Can we use a single SAP Netweaver Enterprise Portal for both SAP Netweaver ECC and SAP Netweaver BW?
Dear Adeel Khan Niazi ,
Based on your quires, I am suggestig comments below by points.
Regarding DEV/QA server:
1) In all system Land scape should be on DEV,QA,PRD. Initial activities ie development is there need, we have to do only on Dev. Once Development completed , we have to move the same into QA server.
2) The main difference between DEV&QA server is, Dev server data may not be same or like production data. But QA data is shadow of Production. Once QA data is loaded successfully to the target, there is no harm to move the development to production.
3)We have extracting data from Dev R3 client like (200,400,500 ) and Prd R3 from 700. So, Dev is for Development and testing is for Quality.
Regarding NW Enterprise Portal:
With in a single box itself, we can configure both ECC and BI.

Baskaran.

Hi,
. 1) Is it mandatory to use a DEV/QA server with SAP Netweaver BW or we can directly use PRD server to install the BI Content and populate the Data Warehouse?
Ans: Yes. It is mandatory to have atleast 1 non-production instance to perform any configuration and testing before making it operational on Production enviornment.
2. Can we use a single SAP Netweaver Enterprise Portal for both SAP Netweaver ECC and SAP Netweaver BW?
Ans: YES. Single portal system can be configured to both ECC and BW.
