ECC 5 to ECC 6 upgrade

We are upgrading from ECC 5 to ECC 6 and want to know if the we can upgrade directly to EHP6 or do we have to upgrade to ECC 6 , then add EHP6. Are there any costs for adding EHP6 on top of ECC 6? What is the best practice when upgrading from ECC 5 to  ECC 6?

Hi,

There is no cost involved in upgrading to EHP6 but if you are using different functionality of EHP6 by activating different business function then you should check SAP Note 1524246 - Relationship of licenses and business functions.

Hello Sean,

you can upgrade ECC5 directly to ECC6 EhP6, and it's advisable to follow this direct path.

You can find these informations in the upgrade manual on SAP Support Portal, in the chapter "Supported Source Releases"
