hi,
If the error message "Logon balancing error 88: Can not connect to message server (rc = 9)" in SAP occur when trying to connect to a server. Checks should be the following:
1) File saplogon.ini should only be in the C:\Windows directory if they already have been replaced must be sought on the computer after the saplogon.ini. Sometimes it can happen that in the SAP GUI directory is another saplogon.ini that will be loaded at startup. Just delete the file, the problem should then resolved.
2) If this does not lead to a solution may need to have in Windows\system32\drivers\etc directory, the IP & Hostname in hosts and sapmsSID 3600/tcp in services file to be checked.

Hi Ravi,
Custom Application Server is only for Single Instance system. I have asked for High Availability (HA) system. In HA if connects through particular node by using Custom Application , the load will hitting very very high in particular instance alone
From my past 3 years observation, this issue might happen due to network disruption / message server unavailability.
Hi All,
I did try doing this however still get the same error.
Also did try replacing sapini file from a user for whom SAP 730 is working fine alongwith all the files for etc folder but the error exists.
Kindly let me know what could be done to fix this.

Hello Dheen,
The error message simply means, that the message server could not be reached.
- Check if you can reach the message server from SAPGUI PC by:
telnet <hostname> <message server port>
Result must be an empty screen -> it is OK.
In case there are any error messages -> it is not OK.
- Check if message server is running.
- Check also dev_ms if there are any errors.
Best regards,
Adam

Hi ,
The reason for following problem can be datatype of the registry value HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters\DatabasePath
was changed from REG_EXPAND_SZ to REG_SZ. .
Please refer Note 882741 - SAP Logon: "Logon balancing error", service 'sap...' unknown for more information .

Hello Jabarullah,
For SAP GUI for Windows releases older than SAP GUI for Windows 720 the default location of "saplogon.ini" or equivalent is in the windows directory. For SAP GUI for Windows 720 and above releases there is a change in the default location of "saplogon.ini" or equivalent. For more
information see SAP note 1409494. This issue may be caused by this change, try the solution
described in note 1409494.

Shrikant

Share the details of your SAP landscape, maybe someone here can help you. First things to check: DNS, firewall and that the message server is running at the IP address specified by DNS.
