Configurable equipment will be derived from configurable material. If the material is created with variant configuration & those parameters needs to be reflected in Equipment, then you can use this option.
For example, Vehicle (Car). Car manufacturing company will sell the car as well as it will provide the After Sales service. To capture the service done, Equipment master should be created. As Car can have different characteristics like Color, With Power Steering, With AC, etc., one material per one model will be created with different characteristics. Whenever the specific car is sold, equipment can be generated with reference to Material code & Serial Number which consists of some set of characteristics. Those characteristics will be reflected in the equipment created.
For the car sold, if any service comes, then task list should be maintained. Task List can't be created for the unique combination. So general task list will be created with all kinds of combination & it will be assigned to all equipment. Based on the value in Configurable equipment & the conditions to pick the operations in Configurable task list, system will pick the specific operations from the Master task list.
