Error in master account assignment for new year

I lost half the day on this error and failed to find anything in my searches on SDN and OSS, so I felt compelled to share my solution.

Problem:

Changed mileage rate for 2013 but received an error when simulating results, "Error in check of master account assignment, Msg. 56 016"

Solution:

The error in PR05 and TRIP did not provide any clues, so I tried PREC to simulate settlement. Here I saw the error "Plan version 0 is locked for 2013". Transaction OKEQ, settings for each fiscal year. Error resolved.
