Implementing "Japanese Auction" type

Hi Experts,

We are using SAP Sourcing 7.0 Patch 03 and also recently implemented SAP Sourcing 9.0 Patch 05 also.

We have requirement to implement “Japanese Auction”. PFB the links for reference about Japanese Auction.

http://www.spendmatters.com/index.cfm/2009/10/5/Japanese-vs-Dutch-Reverse-Auctions

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_auction

After the analyzing the different types of auctions provided in the system (both 7.0 and 9.0), we could not find a way to create a setup for “Japanese Auction”.

Please suggest a way for creating Japanese Auction in the Sourcing 7.0 and Sourcing 9.0.

Thanks,

Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,

I have also read about the Japanese Auction but SAP Sourcing currently does not support this feature out-of-the-box.

What is the business requirement which is to be fuflilled here? We may be able to enable that with the existing auction features, as you might know Dutch Auction is supported.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Armin

Hi Armin,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

As per the Japanese Auction, there is an option for the supplier to opt-out from the auction, if he is not interested. (May be there is a button ui option to opt-out from the auction in the other tools. Am not sure about this).

And, as per the Dutch Auction, there is an option to place bid ("place bid" button), if the bid is acceptable to the supplier.

Can you please help to us identify, in what way we can use the Ducth Auction to work as Japanese Auction?

Thanks,

Vaishali

Hi Vaishali,

In reverse auction suppliers do have option to opt out from the auction.

You can ask suppliers to go to header tab once they decided to opt out and click on decline participation(Refer to screenshot below), this will notify buyer that xyz supplier has opt out from the auction.

Hope this will help,

Rakesh
