SDM and Dispatcher processes are not up, server 0 is up

Hello SAPGurus,

When I check the MMC I find that the SDM and Dispatcher processes are stopped in status and server0 is running. I tried to start both of them alternatively they start for some time and when I refresh they again stop. Please help me start these as I am not able to access the portal. These are for the SOLUTION MANAGER system. Below is the error for both SDM and Dispatcher

Hi Abhishek,

Please check std_serverx.out file from work directory. From the error message it looks like some service has failed. You will find the details in std_serverx file.

Asha

Hi Abhishek,

Hope you are doing good.

As Asha mentioned, exit hook is called (rc = -11113) normally means that some service (usually UME) has failed. Try this:

1) Stop the j2ee server using mmc or ./stopsap

2) Remove all the files from (move to another location) :

/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<nr>/work/dev*, std* and jvm* files

/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/cluster/server0/logs/default trace (latest).

/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher/logs/default trace(latest)

3) Then trigger a restart of the server and  attach the newly generated logs; if the server doesn't startup, the dev*, std* and jvm* file will have the exact reason; else I will check further

Thank you and have a nice day :).

Hi Abhishek,

Hope you are doing good.

If you check the traces, the locking manager service fails to start:

"

Loading: ApplicationThreadManager ... 188 ms.

Loading: ThreadManager ... 31 ms.

Loading: IpVerificationManager ... 16 ms.

Loading: ClassLoaderManager ... 15 ms.

Loading: ClusterManager ... 235 ms.

Loading: LockingManager ...

"

Navigate to the configtool and check if the parameters for LockingManager service are correct.

Also is the enqueue and the message server working fine? The locking manager connects to these services. You will find more info in the SCS/work and the default traces.

Thank you and have a nice day :).

*** Please see SAP Note 943602 , section 'J2EE Engine exit codes'

*** for additional information and trouble shooting.

If you had followed the note you would have find that it tells you to look for SAP Note 940893, on that note you'll find that error "Cannot create Java VM" is most likely related to the fact that you have not configured the engine with the recommended settings and it show you the relevant notes to do that. Effectively solving your problem.

Please do you own research before posting. SCN is a discussion forum.

Juan, I am glad that you suggested me this but I already went through that note but couldn't understand properly and thought to discuss the problem in this discussion forum.

Thanks,

The error you got is pretty generic, it suggests that you have not configured your engine properly.

Read and follow instructions on,

Juan, I was reading Note 940893 - Analysis of errors within the startup of J2EE Engine 6.40 there I got the following which is related to my error posted above. Please advice the text marked in bold.

On Windows platforms, you cannot initialize the JVM if a copy of JVM.DLL exists in the %windir%\system32 directory. The error message in dev_bootstrap is:

       *** ERROR => JHVM_LoadJavaVM: Cannot create Java VM (rc=-1)

*** ERROR => Cannot load Java VM (server) (rc=-1)

       JLaunchCloseProgram: good bye (exitcode=-1)

To confirm this, set the trace level to 3 and restart the engine. The system issues the following error message:

load shared library (jvm.dll), hdl 0

      using "C:\WINDOWS\system32\jvm.dll"

Delete the copy in the %windir%\system32 directory.

If you experience problems in this step, open a message detailing the error under the component BC-JAS-COR.

On Windows platforms, you cannot initialize the JVM if a copy of JVM.DLL exists in the %windir%\system32 directory.

Delete the copy (of JVM.DLL) in the %windir%\system32 directory.

You can increase the developer trace level directly from the SAPMMC
