Hello guys,
We are migrating the version of MS Exchange from 2007 to 2010 and, when we try to send emails to different domain we have this error:
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException:
java.io.IOException: server not responding OK to RCPT TO; 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Only emails to the company domain are allowed.
My channel is like this:
Transport protocol: SMTP
Message protocol: XIPAYLOAD
URL: smtp://server:25
*without user authentication.
If I try with authentication, the error changes to:
***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: java.io.IOException: server does not support PLAIN or LOGIN authentication
***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Do you know if there's any role on PI side to set or it's some settings on the Exchange server side?
Thank you so much.
Luciana R.
Hi Luciana,
Try the following:
- make sure that "Configure User Authentication" option is checked in communication channel.
- leave the 'User' and 'Password' fields empty
- then save and activate the channel and retry the scenario.

Hello Sen,
I checked the Configure User Authentication and leaved user and pass empty but the error is still the same:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException:
java.io.IOException: server not responding OK to RCPT TO; 550 5.7.1 Unable to
relay
Do you have any ideias?
Thank you so much.
Luciana
Hi Luciana,
Please check this wonderful article on configuring mail adapter. I had similar issue which I resolved by setting default domain http://scn.sap.com/thread/3226546 . Please report the issue to network team. The can check the log within mail server to see if the messages are arriving to server properly or not.
Regards
Anupam
Hello Anupam,
All the things in SCOT and PI adapter I have been done but I havent success.
The only thing I havent done is setting the profile parameters on Rz10.
Since we are on 7.02 PI version, do you think it's necessary?
I've asked to my basis colleague to take a look on this parameters...
The question is that this problem is ocorring just because we've changed the MS Exchange Version...
Thank you so much
Luciana
Hi Luciana,
Can you please confirm whether the TO, CC email addresses are valid or not. If its yes but you are getting this issue, this could be for Firewall. The last option could be User Account you are using does not have the authorization. Refer below blogs:
Hi Hafizah,
The infrastructure team made corrections on the Exchange server and now it's working fine.
We are using PI 7.3 with Exchange 2010 but I believe that you shouldn't have any problems using PI 7.02 and Exchange 2010.
On the PI side, I haven't done anything different... the correction came from the mail server side.
Best Regards,
Luciana R..
Hello Luciana,
we're facing a similar problem after having updated from Exchange 2003 -> 2010.

Are you able to find out what they did?
Have a great weekend,
